With my cough in tow, Caroline and I are on our way to New Mexico for the weekend. It is almost too late by the time we take off from Phoenix; we expect to arrive in Socorro near 1:00 a.m. Our reservation cannot be canceled at this point so we keep on going. Today’s photo looks back west as we drive east on Interstate 40; the mountains on the right are the San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff, Arizona.
Congestion
I am “hopefully” recovering from bronchitis. For two weeks now I have been taken out by this upper respiratory affliction that has made me double over in pain from my chest to my hips as I cough, cough, and coughs some more. This cloud represents my lungs, just a few days ago my chest felt like a monsoon.
Ominous, But Not Too Much
The light fluffy clouds of yesterday gave way to heavier dark clouds today but tomorrow is supposed to bring blue skies back to the valley of the sun. Tomorrow is the beginning of the Renaissance Festival – weee!
We Love the Clouds
My photography is nothing if not from the moment. No setup, no tripod, no plan, no clue – just inspiration. This photo is another from my series of stupid moments, that being while driving down the road and seeing a photo I have to take but not being able to pull over safely to snap it. So, I simply and stupidly point the camera out the window while someone else steers the car and I shoot away.
California Here I Come
We are on our way to San Francisco, California, for a long weekend. The first part of our drive takes us over a road that becomes all too familiar: Interstate 60. Over Wickenburg past Nothing and on to Kingman, then we cross the Colorado River before driving through Needles, California. Lucky for us, we will drive through Bakersfield in the dark. We make camp in the luxury of a cheap motel in Lost Hills, California. Next morning, we will finish our drive north to Frisco.
Stained Sky
I am enamored with Arizona skies. The sky over Arizona may be the single thing I will miss the most when Caroline and I move. Very rare is the day I don’t take a minute or two and look above to see what is floating overhead. Caroline has even suggested I post the Sky of the Day photo here on my blog. In all of my travels, the greatest skies I have laid eyes upon are these right here in the Southwest.
