Meet Shamil Patel, he’s watching over Indo-Euro Foods, the grocery store owned by his aunt and our friend Sonal. Sonal is on vacation in India, probably shopping for more than she can carry home. While she is away, a number of family and friends are caring for her shop. Shamil has been the main guy watching the counter the past couple of weeks with his sister, mom, and former employee Gautam sharing the responsibilities. Next week, Rinku and I will take the helm until Caroline and I leave for a weekend in Utah followed by our departure for vacation in Texas over the 4th of July.

Again this year Caroline and I attended Asha Gopal’s Arathi School of Indian Dance recital. And again this year our friend’s daughter Hemu performed, here she is with two friends following their performance. To see my photo from last year’s dance recital, click here. Some friends got together for a bit of a surprise party for Gautam’s 29th birthday which isn’t until tomorrow but then tomorrow wouldn’t be much of a surprise as it would actually be his birthday. With Gautam living in Tucson while he works towards becoming a commercial pilot, we don’t have many chances to see the guy anymore, but it is nice when he makes the trip up north and we all find a moment to get together – Happy Birthday Gautam.

Went to Ameeta’s and Nakita’s 4th birthday this evening at the invite of Satish and Mala. The photo of the day is from when five ladies offered a prayer in recognition of the girls’ birthday.
