From the northwest to the east, Phoenix was half surrounded today by snow-capped mountains, which is a rare sight. Not only did it rain and snow yesterday, but the change in weather helped clear the air and we had clear deep blue skies in all directions. Today’s photo was taken just a few miles north of Phoenix in the village of Cave Creek, Arizona.
Day 145
After 144 consecutive dry days, the drought has finally given way. Early in the morning, the rain awoke me, or the power outage caused by it did, in any case, I was up early to hear the rain coming down in buckets. By the time I snapped this picture the rain had let up a bit. Though not as heavy, it has not stopped raining since the wee hours. It’s snowing up north and raining down south; oh, how nice it is to have a weekend of winter.
Blustery
The winds blew, dust and sand were kicked up, occasional dark clouds rolled across the sky, but no rain found its way to the earth of Phoenix, Arizona.
Indian Veggies
I was busy today with photography for my other site, HappyBumbleBee, so an image from that work will have to stand in for today’s photo. From the top left you are looking at Dhudhi (Bottle Gourd), Bitter Melon, Taro Root, below the Taro going left is Okra, Baby Eggplant, Thai Green Chili, Tindora, and making our way around the bottom to the right is Ginger, Sinqua, and more Ginger.
Gross
This is the grossest ugliest photo of the day I have ever posted on my blog. You are looking at a freeway underpass support column that is covered with goobers. I can only imagine that this is the work of men, sitting at the stoplight with nothing better to do than clear their throat, suck some snot outta their noses and unleash this torrent of phlegm. Maybe women putting on makeup in their cars aren’t so bad after all.
Shave and a Haircut
Our dreadlock queen with hair so long and thick she likes sharing a gack of it on the carpet quite regularly is finishing with her deluxe spa treatment. Looking at her, bright and shiny with her head and paws coiffed to Paris Hilton finery, Caroline and I laugh out loud, hearing Murphy meow: “I am puss in boots.”
