Trying to help Jessica have a meaningful time with us by making up for some of the years of lost visits due to complications with her living situation in Texas. Today, we hung out with her great-grandfather Herbert Kurchoff and his sister Eleanor.

This is my great aunt Eleanor and Herbie’s older sister. We all refer to her as Auntie. She was born the same year Arizona became a state or seventy-six years before Jessica was born.

We all got together for dinner tonight to round out the day with family. Back when Jessica moved to the United States about five years before Caroline and I did, she spent time here in Arizona visiting my mom and Amanda. This is the first time they’ve been back together since 1998, when Jessica last came out.
