I wish we’d learned about using a UV-A (blacklight) for finding scorpions long ago, such as when Jutta left America with one in her bag and got to Germany to find it, trying to crawl out. My crafty mother-in-law caught that menacing-looking creature and took it to a local museum, where someone graciously mounted it for her.
